Greece, in the 1920's, is occupied by the Turks. The country is in turmoil with entire villages uprooted. The site of the movie is a Greek village that conducts a passion play each year. The leading citizens of the town, under the auspices of the Patriarch, choose those that will play the parts in the Passion. A stuttering shepherd is chosen to play Jesus. The town butcher (who wanted to be Jesus) is chosen as Judas. The town prostitute is chosen as Mary Magdalene. The rest of the disciples are also chosen. As the movie unfolds, the Passion Play becomes a reality. A group of villagers, uprooted by the war and impoverished, arrive at the village led by their priest. The wealthier citizens of the town want nothing with these people and manipulate a massacre. In the context of the 1920's each of the characters plays out their biblical role in actuality.。潘菲菲是老潘的独女，久居国外。因一通神秘电话得知父亲去世，悲痛之余也得知一些关于父亲不为人知的秘密。回国后，为了寻找因为父亲老潘而失踪的名画，雇佣了大彪和大猛兄弟二人。 另一方面，张德淼秘密监视着他们，打算借他们的手搜寻真画。而其手下小诸葛为了黑吃黑雇佣了道格二虎二人去秘密抢夺名画。三方人马相互交错，在不认识对方的情况下，互相误会、互相抢夺追逐，造成一系列三轮车追皮卡、偷驴车跑路、被雇佣者打雇主等戏剧情节。 在所有事情都已经结束之后，真画依然没有下落。大彪等人回归正常生活，原本以为真画再也不会出现，却意外发现，原来真画就藏在老潘的遗像夹层里。。在东京都某公寓内，住着父母双双去世的两姐妹笠原信子（小池荣子饰）和笠原祥子（北川景子饰）。信子在某报社工作，全力支持着刚刚走上社会不久的妹妹。这一天，信子前往东北旅行，谁知竟一去不回。倍感震惊和悲伤的祥子发现，姐姐去世的地方并非她本来要去的目的地。就在此时，姐姐的同事吉并亮一（向井理饰）登门拜访，他也向祥子说出了自己的一些疑惑，于是两人开始接班调查。此后不久，祥子接替姐姐进入报社，在此期间，名叫町田知枝（酒井若菜饰）自杀身亡，死后竟留给祥子关于信子之死的一些信息。越来越多的谜团驱使祥子向黑暗的深渊走去…… 本片根据日本著名推理作家松本清张的原作改编。。
