弗雷德里克·怀斯曼生于1930年，在耶鲁大学获得法律学位，然后在巴黎做开业律师，以后又回到美国的大学教授法律。1967年放弃律师行当、开始拍摄了第一部纪录片《提提卡蠢事》(Titicul Follies)后，至今三十三年来，拍摄制作有三十余部纪录片，被尊称为美国60年代"直接电影”运动的主要人物。怀斯曼的作品总体风格是以美国的各种机构为题，沿着"用镜头解剖各种机构与人的方式并展示20世纪下半叶的美国综观”的纪录方式、"一条道走下去”。 怀斯曼从出生到现在，一直住在美国波士顿。。Lead Me Home is a short film that follows several people living on the streets in West Coast cities.
