The warmhearted story of Polish immigrant and mathematician Stan Ulam, who moved to the U.S. in the 1930s. Stan deals with the difficul t losses of family and friends all while helping to create the hydrogen bomb and the first computer. 波兰科学家乌兰姆于上世纪30年代移居到美国，他在帮助科研团队制作氢弹的过程中，他还要处理和面对一些个人得失。。刚出狱的年轻人伯克回到故乡小镇后，镇民都认为他是杀人犯而不敢靠近。随后，他遇见了厌世的文学少女奥德莉，修车厂老板的女儿。在女儿的介绍下，修车厂老板收留了有着高超修车技巧的伯克当技师。慢慢地，伯克与奥德莉间的情愫渐起......。
